Blog: P2P

File sharing is the ability for people to transfer and share digital medias. According to P2p file sharing by margomin, "File Sharing is a sharing and transmitting of computer data in a network or internet with various access levels. Through file sharing, one can access and transmit data from one computer to another, making efficient for the users to work on documents regardless of their location or computer access." P2P file sharing is also file sharing but strictly from peer to peer. P2P file sharing happens when someone wants to download digital media from another person through a network. Instead of the files being "hosted" by a source, it is directly downloaded from one person to another. Examples of P2P file sharing would be Gnutella and torrenting. Torrenting has become a popular way for people to download media through sites and clients like uTorrent, BitTorrent, and Limewire. These platforms allow for digital piracy however, and people's intellectual properties being shared without consent.
